P1 Distance Map

Which primary schools is this block actually near?

Block by block, not development by development. Two blocks of the same condo can sit on opposite sides of the 1 km line, and that line decides who gets priority when a school is oversubscribed and goes to a P1 ballot. Search from an address to see the schools, or from a school to see where you'd need to buy.

Distances are measured the way MOE measures them — from the school's land boundary to the building outline, not between two points on a map. School boundaries come from the OneMap School Query service (Singapore Land Authority), refreshed each June. Building outlines come from OpenStreetMap and can differ slightly from the plans MOE holds, so anything within 40m of a cut-off is flagged for you to confirm on OneMap before you act on it. Where an outline is missing — usually a new or rebuilt block — the distance is marked approximate and measured from the address point, which reads long rather than short. Ballot figures are MOE's published P1 Registration results. This is a planning tool, not an official record.

Next question

Being inside 1 km is only half the answer.

The distance decides your place in the queue. Whether that queue moves depends on how heavily the school is applied to — and some schools have never balloted in Phase 2C at all. Four years of MOE results, by town and by school:

Does living within 1 km of a primary school guarantee a place?

No. Distance decides priority, not admission. It only comes into play when a school has more applicants than vacancies in a phase, and MOE then admits in citizenship-and-distance order: Singapore Citizens within 1 km, then Singapore Citizens 1–2 km away, then those beyond 2 km, and only then Permanent Residents in the same distance order. If a single group is itself oversubscribed, places within that group are balloted.

How does MOE measure the 1 km and 2 km distance?

MOE uses Home-School Distance: the shortest distance from the school's land boundary to the building outline of the address used for registration, computed by the Singapore Land Authority's OneMap School Query service. It is not measured between two postal codes, and it is not walking or driving distance.

Can two blocks in the same condo or HDB estate fall in different distance bands?

Yes, and it is common. Because the measurement runs to each building's own outline, blocks in one development can sit on opposite sides of the line. JadeScape on Shunfu Road is a clear case: measured to Ai Tong School its eight blocks run from 996 m to 1,072 m, so blocks 10 and 12 are inside 1 km and the other six are not — a difference of 76 m across one condo. A distance quoted for a whole project rather than for your block can be wrong for your block.

How long must we stay at the address used for P1 registration?

A child admitted through their distance category must live at the address used for registration — which must remain the registering parent's NRIC address — for at least 30 months from the start of the P1 Registration Exercise. For the 2026 exercise that start date is 30 June 2026. If the address is a new property, the 30 months run from the date the family moves in; for a resale property, from the start of the child's P1 school term.

Is the home-school distance priority changing?

Yes, from the 2027 P1 Registration Exercise, for children starting P1 in 2028. MOE will reserve 60 Phase 2C places instead of 40 at all schools except those with a P1 intake below 180. Twelve schools in neighbourhoods where public housing is under 40% of dwellings within 2 km will also run a Two-Track Scheme, splitting Phase 2C places equally between applicants living within 2 km and applicants living beyond 2 km, with no distance priority inside either track.

Should I check my distance again closer to registration?

Yes. MOE advises checking the OneMap School Query service in the year of your child's registration exercise, because a category can change from one year to the next when updated building plans alter a building outline or when a school's land boundary changes.

Rules summarised from MOE's own guidance on how distance affects priority admission. Distances on this page are computed from the Singapore Land Authority's school land boundaries and building outlines. Confirm your own address on OneMap in the year your child registers.
